What if there was a better way to get to the root cause of your BPH and experience significant, lasting relief?

Rezūm Water Vapor Therapy treats the source of BPH — your enlarged prostate. This short, in-office procedure uses the natural energy stored in a few drops of water to shrink the prostate. So urine can flow freely. There are no incisions, no general anesthesia, and most patients return to regular activities within a few days.  And, it preserves sexual function.

The Rezūm water vapor therapy procedure uses sterile water vapor that is injected into the enlarged portions of the prostate in order to remove the parts which are blocking the urinary pathway, resulting in improved urinary flow. There are no incisions and no general anesthesia. During each 9-second treatment, sterile water vapor is released throughout the targeted prostate tissue. When the steam contacts the prostate tissue, the energy stored in the steam is released into the tissue targeted. This results in the dying off of the prostate cells responsible for the enlargement, leading to its shrinking, which results in a more open urinary pathway. The number of treatments you will need will be based upon the degree to which the prostate is enlarged.

POSTOPERATIVE PERIOD

Postoperatively, normal activities can resume following the procedure, although for two or three days postoperatively a catheter will remain in place (a tube in the penis to drain the urine.) There may be increased frequency and/or urgency to urinate, pain with urination and/or blood in the urine. As the treated area shrinks over time, these symptoms will diminish and cease. Most patients experience symptom relief within several weeks after treatment, and most have noticed further improvement within 2 to 3 months. If symptoms recur in the future, the treatment can be repeated.

A key advantage of the Rezūm procedure is that most men report that it does not interfere with erection or ejaculation.
